Ira and Bobbi Maxwell have 3 grown children, 1 granddaughter and 1 grandson. Ira is from Nova Scotia, Canada. He worked in the fishing and lobster industry from a very young age. Bobbi grew up in Tennessee but also has family in Canada. She was a licensed Optician for 20 years.

Their passion for missions started when they began doing local projects for the elderly and shut ins through their home church. They then did 10 short term mission trips to 6 different countries through Samaritan's Purse. Ira was involved with relief work and construction projects while Bobbi led the eye clinic ministry.

It was during their short term mission trips that they became more aware that the harvest was plenty and the workers were few. They both began praying for direction as they felt called to commit to longer term missions abroad. In 2007 they responded to the call and moved to Queretaro, Mexico to serve at Pan de Vida (Bread of Life) Orphanage. Their main ministry was geared toward construction of facilities, hosting short term teams and assisting with daily activities like working in the kitchen, doing laundry, helping with homework, etc. Once the construction and main projects at Pan de Vida were complete and having witnessed God manifested in the lives of Mexicans to serve the needs of the children, Bobbi and Ira felt God was stirring change into their lives and service. During this season of prayer for direction, they found out that La Aljaba Children's Home was undertaking a project of construction for a new home from the ground up. Feeling that God had used the 5 years in Mexico to teach and equip them for this type of service, they decided to join La Aljaba and move to the Amazon jungle of Colombia.

Ira's main ministry focuses on construction, projects and daily property maintenance. Bobbi assists with short term teams, spiritual teen program and tutoring of English. In addition to this, they have a passion for discipleship that happens in a home that will provide for them spiritually, physically, emotionally and academically based on Biblical Foundations.
