Busy!

It is a busy week at Pan de Vida.  A team from Winkler, Manitoba with a few from Morden and even some from Northern British Columbia is here.  Some members have been coming yearly since PdV obtained the property.  It is great to hear their stories on the progress they have seen and been a part of over the years.  Many are new to PdV and we are always excited to see God working in the lives of others and what He will do during the trip.

The weather has been a bit chilly which has been nice for them doing such labour intensive work.  It took Ira and Jack a whole day just to get the doors to open on the van to go pick up the team.  They literally had to take them apart and re-cable the side and back doors.  The team was picked up Sat night, then on Sunday it was a day of Church and time at the hacienda.  Monday, the work began.

So many things have happened in the 1st week, so I wanted to bring you up to date on the projects.  In addition to finishing the paving blocks in front of the visitor's dorm, the team has prepped and is laying blocks at the auditorium entrance and around the corner under the awning area.

They had a ditch dug to lay piping along the playground which will take rainwater from the visitor dorm roof and drain it to a holding tank so the water can be recycled for different things.  They are working on the apartments upstairs with some tiling, installation of wiring, plumbing and putting in the partitions for the rooms.

I must not forget the women who are cooking in the kitchen.  With all this hard work going on, they are doing a wonderful job of making hearty meals for everyone and have cleaned the visitor dorm kitchen from top to bottom and inside out.  I haven't gotten the pictures of them that I should but I will for next post.  We all know the heart of a home is the kitchen and I know myself and the construction volunteers are very grateful for what they do.

As I was looking at the scripture to post, God brought me to Romans where Paul talks about the body of Christ.  I was going to post just a couple of the verses but as I read on, God reminded me how the body is much more than just us who are labouring.  Paul even mentions the gift of generosity and giving and we know that there are many people who have given in many ways to allow us and the teams to be here.  To God be the Glory for giving so many people so many different gifts!

Romans 12: 4-7  Just as each of us has one body with many members, and those members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.  We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.  If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.  If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
