Teamwork

Today Pan de Vida said "Hasta Luego" to the Seaforth/Waterloo Ontario team from Canada.  Again the team was a combination of those who have been coming for many years, a few years and some first timers but as always it was like family coming home.

The team hit the ground running after arriving immediately doing a concrete pour to make the gate entrance more accessible for the water truck and larger vehicles.  They also installed a propane oven in the visitors dorm, finished the paving blocks behind the auditorium, installed a drain pad for rain runoff near the school, repaired major septic issues, painted and replaced liquid propane lines to the boys dorm.

The biggest blessing was the time they spent with the kids.  Each weekday while the kids were in school, the team worked hard on the projects and as soon as recess came, they stopped everything to interact with them in different ways during this time.  The principal even commented at how before the kids lingered around and suddenly she noticed that no one would be around and she would look out and see a huge huddle of people in the recess area.

The team provided pizza, pop and piƱatas during a fiesta evening. They also brought a fresh energy to interact with the kids that allowed them to arm wrestle, jump rope, play hockey, soccer and even throw kids around in the air.

The last Sunday the team shared testimonies and ministered through music and shared a quote they felt applied to their time at Pan de Vida.  "Put yourself completely under the influence of Jesus so that He may think His thoughts in your mind, do His work through your hands, for you will be all powerful with Him to strengthen you."  Mother Teresa

Having said all this, I want to close in saying that all of it was made possible by the provisions and servants hearts God gave to each one. It was a true testimony of how God works in us and through us to work all thing together for the good of those called for his purpose because the team definitely wanted  God to be Glorified!

Dental Help

The kids of Pan de Vida are being blessed with dental care!  In the past, due to lack of finances,  the only times that anyone here went to the dentist was if they were having evident problems, inflammation or pain. Recently we had a dentist offer his services free of charge to evaluate and start treating all of the kids to a healthier mouth.  Now 2 days a week, and little by little everyone gets to the dentist. Usually 4-5 kids go each time and almost all of them require several visits to repair most of the problems that have developed.  The wait can be anywhere from 3-5 hours depending on what treatment is being given and with so many children, with so many dental problems, the list to the dentist office keeps getting longer.  So in addition to the 2 weekly appointments, a Mobile Dental Van from Cuauhtemoc, a local University, comes to Pan de Vida to help expedite the process.  Most of  dentists are graduates while some are students of the University that come as a part of their training to help.  This makes it so much easier because there isn't the issue of transportation, juggling volunteers schedules and having kids in a waiting room being restless for several hours.  Also the kids are learning more about the importance of dental hygiene.  It is a true blessing for the kids to receive this gift and lesson.
