When I returned from Aguascalientes, there was a team already at Pan de Vida from Waterloo, Ontario. They immediately jumped into the projects. There were a few that had been here before but most were first timers to Querétaro. They were able to finish some of the on-going projects.
Behind the girls dorm, the drainage from the washing machines and sinks has now been completely poured and cemented along with interlocking bricks to pave the area. The fence along that side of the Orphanage is completed with the concrete work at the bottom and weaving within the fence to allow privacy. Interlocking brick is completed between the kitchen area and the girls dorm and cement work surrounding the water cistern was also done. The sewing room received a partition wall, doors, electrical work and painting to finish the final room in the girl's dormitory. The team also painted some of the classrooms of the school, repaired bicycles and upgraded much of the electrical work throughout the premises. Also, the concrete platform for the stairs that will eventually be built to go above the kitchen and have apartments for long term volunteers was poured. One word that comes to mind just typing this is tired but they displayed complete joy in their service as have all the teams.
The team also went to the Otomie Casa in the mountans of Amealco to outreach to a tribal community there. On the last day here, they used the afternoon after church to spend time with the kids. Pan de Vida received a donation of fruit that day and many members enjoyed spending time helping the kids peel, chop and blend to make use of what needed to be attended to right away. It made what would seem to have been a chore for the kids, a fun time of fellowship.
All of this reminds me how the body of Christ works. None of the work is completely done by one team. Some have come in and started it and sometimes a team comes right behind to finish or longer term volunteers work on it in between other tasks. Each member brings a gift that God can use to meet the needs of the work here. It is all worked out to the good of those who are called according to His purpose. We love teamwork! It is what allows facilities like Pan de Vida to function in a way that is fruitful.
I am posting a few pictures that I have but will post more later when I can figure out how to get them from my e-mail into a picture program.
