Baptisms

Yesterday was an exciting day for everyone at Pan de Vida.  Not only did the team from Northview Community Church in Abbotsford, BC host everyone to a day at the water park, but it was also used as a time for a public Baptism!!

In the recent months, several of the children have received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.  It has been so very exciting to see the changes in their lives.  Some of the children have come here since Ira and I started our service at Pan de Vida.  We have seen the journey they have been on.  Most of them come very angry, hurt, rebellious, resentful along with many other emotions.  Slowly through the ministry here, we see Jesus work on their hearts and soften them to open up to trust again.

Justo, the Pastor at Pan de Vida, met with all the new converts and counseled them about Baptism, their commitment and the significance of the event.

As everyone entered the water and the others gathered around, it drew attention from the rest of the people at the water park.  An elderly man approached the group and started asking questions.  Justo explained that it was a Baptism and the man went further into details making  sure it wasn`t Jehovah Witness etc.  After discussion and feeling confident that we were Christians accepting Jesus and believing through His death and resurrection that He died to free us from our sins, the man wanted to be baptized.  He had accepted Christ several years before but had never had a formal Baptism and wanted to do that at this time.

With everyone now in their white garments and in the water, Justo and Paco, the assistant Pastor, performed the baptism.  Eli played worship music and everyone sang in between the confession of faith.  What a glorious day it was.

Afterward, with everyone on a spiritual high, the fun began with everyone swimming and playing.  It was great to see everyone enjoy themselves.  Despite many of the children not knowing how to swim, they seemed eager to try.  There were also basketball games being played at a court beside the pool area.  After 8 hours, I think we all left sunburned, tired and revived by the power of the Lord!
